So many women in the world fighting to be taken seriously and then a company like Kinder comes and does something like this. It’s like they thought it would be good to go back in time a little, divide up the sexes again. ”Let’s give the girl princesses and the boys cool stuff”. Get it together Kinder!
Two weeks ago my friend Hanna called me and asked if I wanted to have a picknick with her and another friend the following day in Nairobi National Park. Things like that are like a jolt to my system. The luxury of being like ”yeah, let’s have a picknick amongst wild animals tomorrow, why not?”. In my head there is a voice screaming ”dreeeeeaaaaam liiiifffeeee”.
My friend who came to visit me said that he had heard that girls here have a thing for pilots. I didn’t think too much of the comment, until, I went on Tinder to check out the market. I quickly became obsessed with finding pilots. And other weird people. I hope I don’t get sued for showing their faces… At least I cut away their names.
And then there were these guys…..
Nairobi is a place that I first discovered 2009 on a family vacation. A couple of years later, my brother moved here to study. It is far away from all the places I grew up but I still always feel this longing to be here, when I am not. For the last half year, I have been going back and forth. And now I have been here for two months. I really don’t know why I like it so much, I am always waiting for the moment when I wake up and see it for what it really is, but it just doesn’t happen. It is so different from my world back home. Nothing ever works here and then at the same time they do, just not the way they are supposed to. ”Good enough” feels like the general motto and to be honest why do things have to be perfect? It is just a more relaxed way of looking at life, which calms me down. It is violent, harmonious, lush and chaotic, all at the same time. I guess it kind of reflects my personality.
